Botanica Grove Gallery in Brooklyn commissioned a visual identity for x, y, z: Through Dimension, an experimental group exhibition exploring how art can transcend its traditional dimensions. Hosted during the summer of 2024, the show combined painting, sculpture, digital art, and performance—featuring textured paintings, kinetic sculptures, and time-based works that challenged spatial boundaries. In addition to designing the exhibition’s identity, I provided technical writing consultation for the exhibition text and co-curated the show.

The exhibition description begins playfully—“Grids are everywhere...”—before positioning the show as an exploration of grids and axes as both boundaries and sources of creative tension. The title references the three axes of three-dimensional space; its lowercase styling and
comma separation mimic the notation of x, y, and z.

Visually, the identity drew inspiration from math test booklets, using Times New Roman for its academic neutrality and a three-axis grid extending across all materials. Black typography on a white background maintained simplicity and structure. The system carried through to a tabloid-sized poster, where grid lines framed the show’s title, subtitle, venue details, and artist list.

Featured artists included David Ayala, Elric Ford, France Rreally, Isabella Scott, Kip Jacobs, Mike Picos, and Timo Kuzme, each exploring the intersection of technology, identity, and form. For social media, we designed a looping animation in which the grid expands and contracts, symbolizing movement through dimensions.
